How can the Green Climate Fund's Private Sector Facility most effectively mobilise private capital to finance climate change adaptation and mitigation in developing countries?

The Green Climate Fund's (GCF) Transitional Committee (TC) is currently considering how to operationalise a GCF "private sector facility." The private sector facility is envisioned to directly (to private sector projects) and indirectly (through private financial intermediaries) finance private sector climate change mitigation and adaptation at the national, regional, and country levels.

This side event will draw from private and public sector perspectives to inform how the GCF private sector facility can optimize climate change outcomes by catalyzing private capital. It will also discuss how the private sector facility should prioritize funds disbursal and what pitfalls the facility should avoid.
