12:00 AM - 12:00 AM
Net Impact is a community of more than 30,000 changemakers using our jobs to tackle the world’s toughest problems, demonstrating that it’s possible to make a net impact that benefits not just the bottom line – but people and planet, too.
The 20th anniversary Net Impact Conference is bringing together more than 2,800 changemakers from all over the world and 300 dynamic speakers from across industries, from Fortune 500 companies to emerging nonprofits.
WRI is participating on three panels at this year's Net Impact Conference.
- Building a New Sustainability SWOT Team (Workshop)
3:00 PM - 4:15 PM on Friday, Oct 26, 2012
SWOT analysis (noun): an age-old strategic planning method to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in any new business venture. Join us to put a new twist on an old tool to spark bold ideas for sustainable business practices. Work with peers and the World Resources Institute to establish an adapted SWOT framework for the modern age, identifying big risks and big opportunities as environmental trends reshape markets. Learn about WRI’s progress applying the new SWOT framework with partner corporations, and participate in a friendly team competition for “boldest collaboration proposal." PLEASE NOTE: Attendance is limited; arrive early to guarantee your spot. Adding this session to your online schedule does not reserve you a place at the session.
- Climate Change Adaptation: Mitigating Risk and Building Resilience (Panel)
4:30 PM - 5:45 PM on Friday, Oct 26, 2012
The effects of a changing climate have already begun to impact society and business alike. While many companies continue to pursue climate change mitigation strategies, others have realized the importance of adaptation as well. Join us for a discussion with corporate leaders about the cutting-edge techniques and strategies companies are using to mitigate the risks of climate change and build more resilient organizations.
- Driving Bolder Corporate Investments in Sustainability (Panel)
10:15 AM - 11:30 AM on Saturday, Oct 27, 2012
How can companies prioritize investments that are well-aligned with environmental trends - and avoid misaligned investments that increase risk? This session will highlight examples of leading companies that have created or protected long-term business value by committing capital to sustainability projects. Drawing on experience collaborating with many corporate partners, WRI will lead this discussion as panelists share successes and offer suggestions for engaging key financial decision makers within your company.
