The Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED), has the pleasure to invite you to its side event "The Role of Arab Business in the Transition to Low-Carbon Economy," at COP 18, held on Thursday, 6 December 2012 at the Qatar National Convention Center, Room 3 from 15:00 to 16:30.

The business community is playing a bigger role in the transition to low carbon economy. AFED intends to highlight some good practices undertaken by corporations operating in Arab countries, and discuss methods to advance corporate environmental responsibility practices and public-private partnership to deal with climate change. AFED is inviting some of its corporate members to highlight the role of their companies in the fight against climate change, while still preserving profitability and sustainability.

Guest speakers are:

  • H.E. Dr. Rashed Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water in the UAE and

  • Dr. Andrew Steer, President of the World Resources Institute (WRI).

Panelists from AFED corporate members Kharafi National, Acwa Power and Aramex will present policies and action taken by their companies towards transitioning to green low carbon economy. The session will be moderated by Najib Saab, AFED Secretary General.
