The event will discuss the launch of a new signature report on NDC implementation and ambition in Asia, a new product of the NDC Transport Initiative for Asia (NDC-TIA). NDC-TIA is a joint program of seven organizations funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Actions (BMWK). NDC-TIA is supporting China, India and Vietnam to develop comprehensive decarbonization strategies and solutions to implement them. Beyond the three countries, on the regional and global level, the program connects to additional countries in Southeast Asia, sharing lessons learned, increasing discourse on decarbonizing transport and promoting efficient, multi-stakeholder approaches coordinated between government ministries, civil society, and the private sector.

In this session, a high-level panel comprised of country representatives, partner organizations and other stakeholders will discuss progress toward implementing NDCs and raising ambition as countries approach updated submissions in 2025. In particularly, the discussion will cover levers for climate action including national multi-stakeholder transport convening to models for finance. Further, the panel will explore the system approaches needed and being implemented in the sector in Asia, including electric mobility, public transport and modal shifts, and freight.
