Green Power Market Development Group

The Green Power Market Development Group (GPMDG) launched in 2013 as a partnership between WRI India, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation and the Confederation of Indian Industry that works with large commercial and industrial energy consumers in India to rapidly scale up the country’s clean energy market.

The GPMDG addresses the policy, regulatory and market barriers that impede the growth of the renewable energy sector. The GPMDG also works with government agencies to help member companies voluntarily set and achieve their renewable energy goals.

GPMDG’s coalition of more than 30 large consumers is helping the Government of India achieve its ambitious renewable energy targets  of 170 GW by 2022.
