Casey Skeens is the Media Relations Specialist for Communications and Engagement within WRI’s Core Communications department. He works to raise the profile of WRI, its research, and its experts worldwide. Casey develops and implements communications strategies, maintains relationships with journalists, and collaborates with staff across the Institute to communicate WRI’s work more effectively.

Prior to joining WRI, Casey worked on environmental initiatives at the National Wildlife Federation and the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. He has combatted misinformation at Media Matters for America and supported international programs at the German Marshall Fund. He also helped the Chicago Council on Global Affairs host NATO’s Chicago Summit in 2012 as the official partner organization. Casey is a TEFL-certified teacher and taught English at Nanjing Foreign Language School, one of the oldest foreign language schools in China.

Casey earned his B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in English and French, with a minor in European Studies.

He enjoys photography and traveling. He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Janie.
