Semere Jelalu is an Urban Mobility Analyst for the WRI Africa Cities team and he will support national policies, strategies, and guideline development for the improvement of road safety and the implementation of low carbon and sustainable transport, such as mass transit and non-motorized transport.

Prior to joining WRI, Semere worked for more than 15 years in the area of design and project management of road and transport infrastructure projects as well as road safety improvement projects in different roles such as Designer, Project Manager, National Road Safety Project Office Coordinator, Deputy General Manager of Addis Ababa City Traffic management Agency and General Manager of Addis Ababa City Transport Programs Management Office.

Semere holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Arbaminch University and MSC in Construction Technology and Management from Addis Ababa University.

In his spare time, Semere enjoys watching football games and reading books.
