Subrata is Associate Program Director with the Climate Program at WRI India. He is involved in research based on the thematic areas of informing the next round of ambitious climate actions and long-term strategies. He also supports subnational engagements with the Indian states and corporate climate action work. He is also recognized as Climate Policy Expert within Article 6.4 Mechanism Roster of Experts by the Supervisory Body (SB) under UNFCCC.

Subrata previously led GHG abatement projects while working as a Consultant with India's leading infrastructure and finance conglomerates and secured technical due diligence for the commercialization of carbon credits. He also worked as a GHG auditor with one of the UNFCCC-accredited organisations. He designed and led third-party verification under the thematic area of RE, EE, waste handling & disposal under many voluntary and compliance market-based mechanisms.

Subrata holds a Master’s degree in Energy Systems from the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun, India. Subrata is a certified Management Systems auditor (ISO 14001:2004) and, acquired proficiency certificates on GHG Accounting for Renewable Energy Projects and Landfill Gas projects from GHG Management Institute.
